Appearance Day of Lord Narasimha Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated globally as the auspicious appearance day of Lord Narasimha, the half-lion, half-man incarnation of Lord Krishna. This divine incarnation occurred for two primary reasons: to uplift Dharma (reestablish Vedic knowledge that was lost) and to protect His dearest devotees. Lord’s fourth incarnation came to protect His devotee Prahlada from the cruel treatment of his demonic father, Hiranyakashipu. After his brother was slain by Lord Varaha, Hiranyakashipu sought revenge. He performed severe penance to please Lord Brahma, who eventually granted him boons—though not immortality. Hiranyakashipu cleverly asked for these protections: Not to be killed by any being created by Brahma.
